When you see a great photo of your favorite artist that is reposted by Complex News and Hypebeast on instagram the caption is always followed by a tag, the photographer is Gunner Stahl. Gunner Stahl (Jonathan Simmons) got his rise to fame after capturing a photo of Wiz Khalifa in 2013. His success took off after that, he has taken photos with some of hip/hop and raps top names. To name a few he has captured Tyler the Creator, Lil Uzi Vert, Playboi Carti, and Drake. He has built a name for himself while releasing two books on his own, shooting Playboi Carti self-titled album cover, and the cover of hip/hops The Fader magazine.
Stahl recently released a book with the name “I HAVE SO MUCH TO TELL YOU”, released on October 29, 2019. The book is a dedication to his mother who passed away due to breast cancer when Stahl was a young kid. Gunner once said that the reason why his profile picture and most of his work is pink is because he wants to always keep his mother close to him. The book received so much appraise and love from the internet and Stahl fan base on Instagram and Twitter. The book received a high amount of pre orders on Amazon that it was above former president Obama upcoming book. The book itself comes with excerpts from Swae Lee, a close friend of Stahl, who he went on tour with as well as a contribution from Chi Modu, a well known photographer.
Following the release RedBull put together a gallery for the release of the book in Atlanta, hometown of Gunner. The event was well rounded and included the images from the book enlarged so the people could see them at a way bigger perspective than ever before. The event was filled with anxious fans who wanted to get their copy signed by the man of the hour. Not only was it filled with fans but it was well star studded. Gunner friends and frequent collaborators where there in attendance as well.
Look forward to RedBull and Gunner should be collaborating again, and it will take place on our very own campus of Dominguez Hills on Nov 8th. A flyer will be posted below and make sure to check in on ToroLink!!!
